File extension avb information

These files are used by the Avid video editing software as library files for an Avid project and they are used to store references information that offer location information to media clips, sequences, templates, effects and video titles. Thus, these files act as pointer files for a certain project helping the program to locate all project files. As a result, they are small files that do not contain the actual data that needs to be retrieved. AVB files thus need the support of media files they are associated with if they are to be used for an Avid project.
The files can be accessed in both Windows and Mac systems that have Avid Xpress installed. The single file contains a complete structure of the data medium with the contents of the project. Thus, when backing up the projects, the AVB files must be accompanied with the video files that have been used in the editing process. In that way, a reference point can always be established that gives the pointer bin files their authenticity. Thus, they should not be confused with other bin files that contain full disk images with all data replicated in one file.
